Hair is a modified form of epithelium and grows from a papilla upwards from its bulb. The Hair follicle bulb is divided into a lower and upper section. The lower section is composed of mitotic or dividing cells. The upper section has the cells that produce the inner hair sheath and the hair shaft. Hair consists of the outer layer which is the cuticle, the middle layer or the cortex and the inner layer or the medulla.
