Anti-Humectant
Any type of substance that repels moisture.  It is also referred to as anti-humidity.

In the world of hair, anti humectants are used to prevent frizz.  Sometimes they are specifically marketed as anti-frizz, anti-humidity, or anti-humectant.

An anti-humectant or anti-humidity hair or beauty product is a moisture blocker.  It decreases the potential for frizz and texture reversion if the hair is straightened.

Although many people who have naturally wavy, curly, coily, or kinky hair need and want hydration for their strands, sometimes too much moisture can be as problematic as too little.

Silicone Is A Popular Anti-Humectant Ingredient

Silicones are popular ingredients in anti-humectant or anti-humidity hair care products.  

Most silicones are usually not water-soluble.  As a result,  they prevent any moisture in the air from penetrating your hair shaft.  

When using a silicone-based anti-humectant it results in the follicles expanding and contracting.

How To Use Anti-Humectant Products

A popular way to use anti-humectants is in leave-in conditioners. 

In other cases, they are used as styling gels, mousses, creams, wax, pomades serums, sprays or similar. 

Another option is to use fruit micro-waxes that wrap the hair strands with a humidity-resistant formula.

Many curly hair experts believe serums are the way to go to banish the frizzies, and just a dab of this anti-frizz serum will fight frizz and yield sleeker, shinier hair.
