Term: Accelerated Vellus (Hair) Syndrome
This is defined as when the anagen phase of cyclic follicular activity is extended. As a result the hair strands gain a greater length then normal. As they grow the vellus hairs still retain their colorless downy characteristics. One cause may be stimulation tied to certain drugs or endocrine changes. This may be more common in post menopausal women or trans-gender males and females during reassignment or transition.
