Introduction

Alyson Hannigan
How I Met Your Mother

I have been a fan of Alyson Hannigan's work since she was the famous Willow, sidekick of Buffy on TV's Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Over the years I have documented Alyson's hairstyles as they have morphed from long to super short with a variety of textures from stick straight to curly and wavy.

I recently covered Alyson's role in the hit CBS TV comedy, How I Met Your Mother.

I also searched for as many photos of Alyson with short hair that I could locate and have included many of the talented actress in the famous  HairBoutique.com Photo Galleries of styles.

The beautiful redhead has made appearance over the past six years, from 2000 until 2006, in a stunning array of different hairstyles.

Many of her most beautiful hairstyles have been chin length which I believe is the most flattering to her well defined chin and her face shape, which depending on how you look at it, could be considered a mixed combination of heart and square angles.

It is my opinion that Alyson's waifish body type looks fabulous with medium or short hair styles.

While Alyson does morph between various shades of red ranging from a deep rich merlot red that bumps up against chocolate (see image at the top of the page above) and a lighter brighter strawberry (see image from How I Met Your Mother Publicity Shot below).

Short Hair Styles In 2006 - One Cut Many Looks

In the earliest days of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the actress who become a cult heroine as Willow, was admired for her very long tresses.

As the character of Willow grew up with the rest of the Buffy crew over the years, her look changed and evolved and eventually settled in the short to medium length range.

While the actress has not been shy about changing up her hair length and various styles, she has avoided the head spinning hair color changes that many of her acting peers have indulged in.

Which probably explains why the beautiful star has glossy looking locks.

Although the very popular actress tends to stick with various shades in the red spectrum

If you study the talented star's hairline closely you will notice that she has a lovely widow's peak near the center of her forehead.  Taking advantage of this beauty feature, Alyson wears her hair parted to one side to work in harmony with the peak.

For the past few years Alyson has been favoring a range of bob hairstyles.  She has been wearing her hair short ranging from chin length to just-above-the-shoulders.  Her hair is medium with a slight bend.

Over the past few years she has been wearing carefully constructed layers that allow her to play with a basic cut but create many different looks from sleek with lots of movement around the perimeter to slightly flicked up around the edges.  Alyson appeared at an event in January of 2006 with lots of body and movement which gave her a faux bouffant look.  The multitalented actress switched to beautiful waves and curls for a premiere in February but was back to a sleek bob for a March event.

Alyson did go through a phase during 2003 and 2004 where she wore her ruby red locks in a few below the shoulder styles.  During her temporary long period she was filming the last season of Buffy as well as filming one of the American Pie movies.
